Welcome to Cedar Swamp!
We are a home based silver persian breeding program that has been in love and working with silver persians for the last 30 years.
We strive first and foremost for temperament, that of the intelligent companion that wants to love and be loved. Health is an equal priority with all veterinary care, vaccinations, genetic testing and cattery inspections done as required. All of our cats are DNA tested negative at the University of California Davis.

•known for superior, friendly dispositions
•come with a genetic health guarantee

on care and grooming
•raised with emphasis on the intelligent companion and 'lap' cat temperaments
•born into a home where health and personality are considered equally important to good looks
•accompanied with 'after sale' follow-up and counselling/advice
Due to family obligations to financially support post secondary education for our three children, Cedar Swamp ceased to exhibiting at cat shows back in 2001. It was the intention at that time to return to showing as soon as it was possible.
The children have now graduated, and we now recognize we no longer desire to show or place cats for breeding. At the same time we realize there is an obligation ensure that Cedar Swamp bloodlines be bred and shown as their quality deserves . We believe it is a moral obligation to have the work of our program ( which was based on the work of other wonderful cats/catteries over the years) to continue to be available and contributing to the gene pool for silver persians worldwide .
To that end we were absolutely delighted to find and select Dave and Val Smith of Zilva Cattery in Scotland to continue the best of the Cedar Swamp breeding program. Not only is their home environment for their cats and cattery the best we have ever seen ( and we have seen many catteries across the globe!) , they are committed to showing and the highest standards of breeding practice and kitten placement. We were delighted to find their moral and ethical standards exemplary, and made the decision to pass on the best of Cedar Swamp breeding cats exclusively to Dave and Val at Zilva.
Cedar Swamp will continue to breed for pet or show (alter) adoptions only . Breeding cats from Cedar Swamp will be available from Zilva in the future. We have been welcomed and will stay involved with the breeding program at Zilva and celebrate their work.
We sincerely thank them for that!
Cedar Swamp is committed to this breed for life!
The selective genetics, healthy breeding practices plus knowledgeable and loving handling have contributed towards the longevity, superior temperaments, health and accomplishments of our kittens and cats over the years
Many come back for a second kitten, or when their pet passes. The oldest silver we have bred lived to 21years of age, and we believe the average to between 13-17 years
